Dennis Igo: Pedophile Guilty Of Possessing 250,000 Child Porn Images Goes Free
Dennis Igo, a businessman from Bronington in UK who admitted to possessing and browsing more than a quarter million child porn images, is the center of judicial controversy this week after a judge freed him and suspended his sentence.
53-year-old Igo is guilty of having 255,667 images involving children in sexually indecent poses. He also admitted to possessing more than 800 child pornography videos. However, Judge Niclas Parry decided it would more fitting to give the pedophile businessman a suspended sentence and 300 hours worth of community service instead of an immediate jail time.
Igo, who appeared before the Mold Crown court, pleaded guilty to 16 charges relating to making and possessing pornographic images and videos of children. According to the Daily Mail, Igo confessed to the creation and possession of these sexually explicit images involving children as young as five years old.
Aside from child porn images, Igo was also discovered to possess extreme sexual images of bestiality, involving unspeakable sexual encounters of humans with dogs and horses.
In a statement during the court hearing, it was declared that Igo, a formerly successful businessman, became addicted to pornography after experiencing financial difficulties. The court heard that Igo, who allegedly lost his life savings, turned to pornography for comfort.
Dennis Igo was also reportedly in a “very dark place” after his wife was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer.
Defending for Igo was lawyer Nicholas Williams, who said that his client’s deviant acts were a result of heavy stress caused by his life situations. He also added that Igo has sought the help of mental health professionals regarding his problems.
Due to exceptional mitigating circumstances and because the probation service took the view that Igo could be safely managed back into the community after some time, Judge Niclas Perry decided to give him a less harsh punishment.
Citizens were naturally enraged by the lenient sentencing. A member of the parliament from Clwyd South exclaimed that the sentencing for Dennis Igo was “totally inadequate.” In a statement revealed by Shropshire Star, MP Susan Elan Jones said:
“This is a man [Dennis Igo] who was involved in the making and viewing of more than a quarter of a million indecent images of children over a seven-year period, and yet he’s been effectively let off with the weakest of all sentences.”
“I have heard from many constituents in Bronington over the weekend and they are all as horrified as I am.”
“The same judge sentenced to jail for two years a man involved in a £20,000 fake coins scam. That strikes me as a very odd idea of justice indeed.”
Dennis Igo received a two-year sentence suspended for two years. He is also ordered to attend 36 sessions of an internet sex offender treatment program. Igo will also undergo 300 hours of unpaid community service and will be banned from downloading pictures of children from the internet. Dennis Igo will register with the sex offender’s list, where his name will stay for ten years.
