Left 4 Dead 3 could be in the works, according to the co-creator of Counter Strike and former Left 4 Dead developer Minh Le. The game series that took out all of the complicated parts and simply stuck you and three other players or AI bots against a legion of the undead could be getting a third chapter sooner than we think.
Even more shocking is the news that the game might already be well into development.
Could Valve’s zombie killing series be heading to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this time? It’s unknown for now, but it would certainly help boost the sales of the consoles with another original game we actually enjoy instead of the stream of titles that have been little more than upgrades of the games we may already own. It’s only a matter of time before Sony and Microsoft will need more “next gen” exclusive titles to convert more gamers. With Batman: Arkham Knight and Assassin’s Creed: Unity leading the pack of highly anticipated games, Left 4 Dead 3 could join the trend of leaving the Xbox 360 and PS3 behind.
The biggest question right now remains who the developer is, since it isn’t Valve this time. Minh Le told the press about his experience involving the mystery game:
“It wouldn’t be any news if I said yes, I saw it. It looks great … I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead . It was just one of those games that really changed the industry because I think at the time there weren’t too many good co-op games, so it was like, ‘Yeah, this is a great co-op game.’”
The team behind the first two games has since moved on to what could be the next breakout hit of the year, Evolve .

The previous games in the series have always enjoyed relatively under the radar success, so it’s likely that the Left 4 Dead 3 release date could be aimed for August. That’s simply speculation, but Minh Le did say he’d seen it in action already. The rest of us are left wondering exactly why we haven’t heard or seen anything about the game until now, and it could be because the developer (whoever it is) has been keeping it under closer wraps than Microsoft has with anything involving the Xbox One.
Could Left 4 Dead 3 gameplay footage and other details be leaked in the next few weeks with E3 2014 coming up? Who is this mystery developer working on the next chapter of one of the best co-op zombie killers ever made?
