Rachel Roy: Was Alleged Elevator Fight Instigator The Reason Jay Z And Beyonce Skipped Kim And Kanye’s Wedding?

Rachel Roy was once accused of sparking the elevator fight between Solange Knowles and Jay Z, so when she was invited to Kim and Kanye’s whirlwind European wedding, it seemed some awkward times would ensue.

But it never reached that point, as Jay Z and Beyonce bowed out of the wedding at the last minute to spend time together in the Hamptons. Roy, the 40-year-old fashion designer, was reportedly in attendance at the nuptials, leading to speculation that Jay Z and Beyonce skipped the event to avoid an awkward confrontation.

It was reportedly Roy’s close (a little too close) relationship with Jay Z that kicked off the infamous fight earlier this month at the Met Gala after party. Reports say that Solange grew angry at Jay Z’s relationship with Rachel Roy, leading Solange to later attack Jay Z in defense of her sister.

Rachel Roy and Jay Z do share an interesting history as she was once married to Damon Dash, Jay Z’s former business partner. But some say the fight wasn’t really about Rachel Roy, instead just an intra-family squabble.

“Jay said something inappropriate to Beyoncé and Solange, and she snapped,” a source told People. “When they got in the elevator, it escalated quickly the way family tensions can. It got exceptionally heated the way family moments can.”

Rachel Roy and Kim Kardashian have been friends for quite some time, and she was actually one of a handful of people in attendance when Kanye popped the question.

“It was a magical night filled with people that love Kim and Kanye dearly,” she told E! News. “Every detail was planned out by Kanye with the intent of making Kim know how loved, adored and cherished she is, from the music to the design of the Lorraine Schwartz ring, love was in every detail.”

In the days leading up to the wedding, sources said Rachel wanted to focus on her friend and steer clear of drama.

“Rachel’s only concern is to be the best and most supportive friend to Kim right now. The thought of any tension occurring between her and Beyoncé is not even an issue to her,” a friend of Rachel’s told HollywoodLife.com.

Though Jay Z and Beyonce skipped out on the wedding and a meeting with Rachel Roy, they did send their best wishes. Beyonce posted a note on Instagram that read: “Wishing you a lifetime of unconditional love. God bless your beautiful family.”
