Santa Barbara Shooting Suspect Elliot Rodger Explains Motive In A Video Before Heading To Isla Vista
Santa Barbara shooting suspect Elliot Rodger created a video called “Elliot Rodger’s Retribution” shortly before heading to Isla Vista where the alleged shooter carried out a mass murder that left seven people dead and seven people wounded:
“This is my last video. It all has to come to this. This is the day of retribution, the day I will have my revenge.”
[UPDATE] We’ve collected all the other videos from the Isla Vista shooter and uploaded them to another article.
In a related report by The Inquisitr, the Santa Barbarashooting took place on Friday night, with Sheriff Bill Brown telling reporters that the suspected gunman went on a rampage that stretched across several blocks. The gunman was later killed in a running gun battle with police officers…. Witnesses said two people were dead on Embarcadero Del Norte near Segovia Road, with another body found near the Isla Vista Deli Mart. A fourth person was killed near the suspect’s car on Del Playa Drive.
The motives of Elliot Rodger were made explicitly clear in a video that was being recorded from within a parked car:
“Tomorrow I will have my revenge against humanity, against all of you. Girls gave their affection and sex and love to other men but never to me. Girls, all I’ve ever wanted was to love you and to be loved by you. I’ve wanted sex. I’ve wanted love, affection, adoration. You think I’m unworthy of it. That’s a crime that can never be forgiven. If I can’t have you girls, I will destroy you. I’ll take great pleasure in slaughtering all of you. You will finally see that I am in truth the superior one, the true alpha male.”
The young man ends the video by laughing maniacally like a stereotypical villain in a movie.
Although the original video of the Santa Barbara shooter has already been taken down on YouTube, there are numerous copies of it being spread all over the internet. Several other videos in his account have similar themes based upon the descriptions. For example, just 13 hours ago he wrote: “I take my usual walk at the golf course, while I explain how unfair my life has been.” He also talks about being a 22-year-old virgin and how he’s never been kissed by a girl. It’s because of personal history like this that he relates his “reaction to seeing a young couple at the beach” as being “envy” and says, “Life is so unfair because girls don’t want me.”
The nine crime scenes of the Santa Barbara shooting are still being investigated. Reports say Elliot Rodger was using the same vehicle shown in his videos.
One woman relates how he casually walked up, said, “Hey, what’s up,” and then began firing at her. The Santa Barbara shooting ended after two gunfights with police. In the second, Rodger crashed into a parked vehicle and police found him dead from a gunshot wound, although reports are uncertain whether it was self-inflicted or not.
