Will Common Core make our kids gay? One Florida lawmaker believes that organizations behind Common Core are using Federal and State money to push an agenda that is way beyond education. But another teacher believes that this agenda includes molding our children’s minds toward certain political beliefs.
In a related report by The Inquisitr , some parents believe that the Common Core math standards are “Satan’s handiwork” because of the way the new teaching methods over-complicate the problems.
Republican representative Charles Van Zant has criticized the American Institutes for Research (AIR), which is both administering Common Core tests in Florida and publishing LGBT materials. Zant believes such organizations are pushing children into “transforming into LGBT,” and he believes this agenda will creep into their Common Core materials:
“These people that will now receive $220 million from the state of Florida, unless this is stopped, will promote double mindedness in state education, and attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can. I’m sorry to report that to you.”
Florida’s Education Commissioner Pam Stewart denied these claims, saying that AIR was selected based upon normal procedures and the work done for one of AIR’s clients should not influence the Common Core materials.
But this politician is not the only saying Common Core is intended to influence the minds of children. Brad McQueen is a teacher in Arizona, and he says at first he was neutral in regards to Common Core, but then became horrified when he was invited to attend a meeting in Chicago to learn more about the then-proposed change to the education system:
“My turning point came when in answer to questions I had about a student writing sample, my Common Core handler blurted out, “We don’t ever care what the kids’ opinions are. If they write what they think or put forth their opinion then they will fail the test.” I have always taught my students to think for themselves. They are to study multiple views on a given topic, then take their own position and support it with evidence. ‘That is the old way of writing,’ my Common Core handler sighed. ‘We want students to repeat the opinions of the ‘experts’ that we expose them to on the test. This is the ‘new’ way of writing with the Common Core.’”
McQueen’s experience with Common Core led him to write a book called “ The Cult Of Common Core ,” which has since risen in the charts on Amazon. McQueen says that the Common Core math will set American children back in comparison to kids from other nations. For evidence of this, McQueen quotes Common Core architect Jason Zimba, who said:
“If you’re a young person who wants to become an engineer, or who wants admission to an elite university, you would be advised to take mathematics beyond the (Common Core requirement) level…you will need to take more mathematics than is in the Common Core.”
But what has McQueen scared is how he says the Common Core organization acts like the NSA because it uses the State Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS) to pull together a large amount of personal data on all students. But the real reason that McQueen wrote the book is that he’s afraid that it will be used in order to force a political agenda into the minds of our youth:
“The Common Core is much bigger than just a set of standards, a test, or a data gathering machine. Like a virus, the Common Core tricks its victims into lowering their guard by pretending to be something it is not. But the Common Core isn’t just a mindless infection of our society; rather it is an intentional takeover of our education delivery system and therefore a takeover of our children’s minds. It is a one-size-fits-all, homogenized, centrally controlled education delivery system steeped in Progressive ideology. It is antithetical to everything that makes our country exceptional. This cult is relentlessly pulling our children under its control, with a seemingly endless supply of money, and uses intimidation to silence its opponents. By taking over how our kids think the Common Core will be used to shape future generations of citizens and their relationship with their own true history and their government…. This is a backdoor way of controlling what the kids will learn in these two fields. I can imagine a centrally controlled Common Core machine ‘infusing’ kids’ readings with political content that is in line with the President’s position on green energy, immigration, or healthcare.”
Do you think the Common Core education standards are as dangerous as critics are claiming?
