‘Boardwalk Empire’ Actress’ Plea Deal Delayed Pending Alcohol Counseling
Paz de la Huerta- who plays the needy and promiscuous former flame of Steve Buscemi’s Nucky Thompson on the HBO hit Boardwalk Empire- was set today to agree to a plea arrangement in a Manhattan courtroom, but the deal has been put on hold pending alcohol counseling for the actress.
De la Huerta, 26, was arrested back in March after allegedly attacking reality show participant Samantha Swetra at New York City’s Standard Hotel. The kerfuffle erupted for unknown reasons, but witnesses described de la Huerta’s alleged assault of Swetra:
Swetra, a former star of the MTV show “The City,” had been hanging out at the bar with Lindsay Lohan when the melee erupted, complete with shattered glassware. A glass flung by de la Huerta had left “cuts” and “bleeding” on Swetra’s leg, and de la Huerta’s swing at the other woman’s nose and mouth also drew blood, prosecutors said at the time.
De la Huerta reportedly shouted, “I’m a real actress on HBO! She’s a fake actress publicity-seeker!” during the confrontation. Originally charged with misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree assault, de la Huerta was set to plea down to second degree harassment. The original charges carried up to a year in jail.
Just this morning, Boardwalk Empire was nominated for 18 Emmy Awards.
