The Boba Fett movie released has been confirmed for 2016 via a leak over the Star Wars 7 spinoff schedules.

In a related report by The Inquisitr , Star Wars 7 has just started filming in the Abu Dhabi desert , and from all descriptions it sounds like Tatooine is making a comeback in some form or another. Director J.J. Abrams also shared the very first photo from the set .

The very first confirmation of the Boba Fett movie came from director John Schnepp, who said that writer Lawrence Kasdan will be handling the project. If you don’t know who that is, Kasdan wrote The Empire Strikes Back , Return of the Jedi , and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The other rumor claimed that Disney was having trouble writing the script for the Boba Fett movie . It’s claimed that a bunch of Disney executives were having a meeting and they were having “minor problems going forward with a film about a villain” since they did not want him to lose the menace of the original series:

“Lucasfilm wants Boba Fett to remain menacing and scary but we have to make him the hero of the film and it is a real challenge.”

Otherwise, the only thing official from Disney was when CEO Robert Iger announced their intention to the company’s shareholders to produce at three Star Wars spinoff movies, although exact titles were not announced. The Star Wars 7 release date is set for December 18, 2015, and at the time we predicted that since the first spinoff will be a year later it’s possible the Boba Fett movie release date could be in 2016.

As it turns out, this estimate was right on the money. Like with all major Disney movie series they plan on making Star Wars toys. During a recent event the toy maker Hasbro revealed the year they were planning on releasing the toys and also which Stars Wars toys they were. Here is the known Star Wars release date schedule:

  • 2014: Rebels
  • 2015: Episode VII
  • 2016: Boba Fett
  • 2017: Episode VIII
  • 2018: Solo
  • 2019: Episode IX
  • 2020: Red Five

Yep, that means we’ll be seeing a new Star Wars movie each year through 2020. In the case of Rebels, that refers to the upcoming Star Wars: Rebels TV show that will be only Disney X D. And of course there is the Han Solo movie in addition to the Boba Fett movie, which has been rumored for years. The only real surprise is the Red Five movie, which has everyone guessing on what that might mean.

How do you think the Boba Fett movie should portray the famous Star Wars bounty hunter?
