‘X-Men: Apocalypse’: Quicksilver May Return With Scarlet Witch
X-Men: Apocalypse is already getting some attention before Days of Future Past has even hit theaters in the US. With the impending departure of Hugh Jackman in his iconic role, there has been a rumor that Wolverine may be killed off in Apocalypse to coincide with the comics. It’s also been rumored that fan favorites Cyclops and Gambit might be in it, though Cyclops isn’t likely with the timeline they’re using (it’s a direct sequel to First Class and James Marsden would be far too old for that time period).
Now it’s been confirmed that Quicksilver will be in the upcoming ensemble film and rumor has struck again stating that his sister Scarlet Witch might be joining him.
A few months ago, just the news that Quicksilver would be in both X-Men: Days of Future Past and Avengers: Age of Ultron raised a lot of questions about crossovers. The final word was that as long as they were mutants and members of the Avengers team at some point in the comics, any character could be used in both (except maybe Wolverine, an X-Men staple). The catch was that a mutant in the Avengers films couldn’t be referred to as a mutant, and Fox couldn’t refer to their history.
With X-Men: Apocalypse being the subject of regular updates, the possible addition of Scarlet Witch once again raises questions beyond her dual role in both films. Nobody has been cast for the role of the daughter of Magneto, and Elizabeth Olsen is obviously not going to be in both films for legal reasons.
Producer Simon Kinsberg opened up on something we suspected from the start:
“We talked about bringing Scarlet [Witch] into the mix for this film, and there was actually a little scene we shot that we ended up cutting from the movie that alluded to her. But it was a sort of interstitial scene that didn’t push the movie forward, and so it ended up being cut, like lots of bits and pieces in a movie that’s this complicated and with this many characters to follow. But he would absolutely be back for the next X-Men movie.”
Apparently, it was too much coincidence to have both of Magneto’s children in both movies, and Scarlet Witch had to be cut from even being mentioned. That may not be the case in X-Men: Apocalypse, even though nobody has been cast for the role at this point.

Could Fox push their luck and have both siblings appear in the next X-Men film? The possibility of Scarlet Witch being in X-Men: Apocalypse seems more likely than seeing a younger Cyclops, but neither has been confirmed.
Who do you think will be in Bryan Singer’s next X-Men film?
