When footage was leaked of Beyonce Knowles’ sister Solange attacking Jay Z in an elevator after the Met Gala, the internet pretty much exploded. Over the last few days the lives of Beyonce Knowles, her sister Solange Knowles, and Jay Z has become an on-going soap opera of speculation from the media. Instagram photos deleted and added by the sisters have been under scrutiny, and there’s about three scenarios that are going around in what caused Solange Knowles to beat up her brother-in-law Jay.
While Beyonce and Solange Knowles both made weird moves on their Instagram, we weren’t sure if anyone from the Knowles/Carter family would make a statement about the elevator incident that happened at The Standard hotel. Well, to our surprise, married power couple Beyonce and Jay Z have made a joint statement about the elevator incident.
Although the statement doesn’t address why Solange went off on Jay Z, it does lay to rest rumors that there’s an on going feud going on between Jay Z and Beyonce, Solange and Beyonce, Jay and Beyonce, — you get the point.
The joint statement made was issued to the associated press:
“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it.”
The statement goes on to say that whatever differences Solange and Jay Z had, it’s apparently all squashed:
“Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.”
The one report that seems most likely in the triangle is that Solange was set off when Jay Z wanted to go to Rihanna’s after party without Beyonce. Although we don’t know why Solange would throw punches at him for this, certain speculation leads to believe this was Jay’s way of stepping out on Beyonce, and apparently it wouldn’t be the first time either.
Regardless it seems like all parties involved have settled their differences. For now it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting more information on this situation, as the joint statement, acts as a pretty powerful silencer.
