Solange Knowles Becomes Angry When Associated With Jay Z Before An Interview [Video]
By now everyone has seen Solange Knowles’ elevator beat down where she physically assaulted her sister Beyonce’s husband Jay Z. Many outlets have tried to figure out what went wrong, and the words exchanged between the two parties before and during the intense altercation on the elevator.
While we don’t know exactly what lead to Solange Knowles’ outburst after the Met Ball, we do have some information that indicates that the incident on the elevator isn’t the first time the contentious relationship between Jay Z and Solange Knowles hit the news, at least not as far as Solange is concerned.
An old television interview that took place in 2008 recently surfaced on the internet. Years ago Solange was promoting her then new album, but she wasn’t all smiles as she became “angry” at the reporter for her “intro.” During her intro to the show Solange claimed that the reporter mentioned drama surrounding Jay Z’s 40/40 club, which was a story circulating in the press at the time of Solange’s promo for her new album.
The reporter denied saying anything in relation to Jay Z’s club. The exchange made for a pretty awkward moment on live television at the time.
The anchor for a local Fox affiliate seemed annoyed when introducing the interview as a news report. He even mispronounced Solange’s name, but something tells us that was more to make a point than anything else.
At one point Solange addressed the intro that she heard which wasn’t seen on the package that was put together for the news:
“Please don’t talk me into family and my brother-in-law’s establishment.”
It’s not known whether or not Solange doesn’t want to be associated with Jay Z because his accomplishments overshadow her or if she just wanted to focus on her album.
US Weekly also confirms that this isn’t the first time that Knowles went off on Beyoncé’s husband.
A source told the magazine:
“Solange has flipped her lid like that before. She is genuinely a sweet and nice person but she also keeps shit real. She can take a small thing and it triggers her. This is not the first time this has happened. That’s why Bey and Jay were so calm. They are used to this from Solange. It has definitely happened before.”
Although no one has made a public statement about the fight that took place at The Standard hotel, Solange fired back by deleting photos of Beyonce from her Instagram. We don’t know if that was in an effort to stop media attention or if this was her way of passive aggressively drawing a line in the sand.
