iPhone 6 rumors are swirling, with word coming from Apple that the release of the next incarnation of the popular smartphone is being pushed up, and now just weeks away.
Sources close to Apple Inc. said the company will reportedly reveal the iPhone 6 in August , one month earlier than industry experts had expected.
The Economic Daily News reported that a 4.7-inch screen version of the iPhone 6 will be released first in certain markets, and a 5.5-inch or 5.6-inch model will come out a month later.
Other iPhone 6 rumors point to some new features on the Apple smartphone, including a camera that offers groundbreaking resolution.
A patent published Thursday by the US Patent & Trademark Office showed that Apple was developing “super-resolution based on optical image stabilization.”
From the blog Tom’s Guide :
“Optical Image Stabilization (or OIS) typically steadies an image projected on a camera’s sensor by changing the optical path to the sensor in response to detected movement of the device before the image is converted into digital information. This means that if your hands are shaking as you press the shutter, the processor will compensate for your movement by detecting the direction in which you moved and correcting for that.”
It’s not clear if the technology would be included in the iPhone 6, but one of the drawings included in the patent application shows the iOS camera app above HDR and Panorama mode options, suggesting it could be included on the iPhone camera app.
If the iPhone 6 rumors are true, then it would appear Apple is trying to win back some of the market share from competitors like Samsung that have been offering larger screen sizes.
Apple has also seen some of its popularity stolen by competitors. Once the one and only giant in smartphone world, Apple has now been eclipsed by other competitors. Earlier this year, the HTC One M8 stole buzz away from the iPhone and was hailed by many as the best smartphone on the market.
Representatives from Apple did not respond to the iPhone 6 rumors.
