Johnny Depp: Jerry Bruckheimer Believes The Actor Will Bounce Back From Box Office Woes

Johnny Depp hasn’t enjoyed much success at the box office these days. However, fans shouldn’t spend too much time worrying about the situation.

Although some actors would find their names crossed off the Hollywood A-list if they stumbled as bad as Depp has in recent months, the Pirates of the Caribbean star is the sort of person who can bounce back from such financial tragedies. After all, he’s Johnny Depp. People are still going to put the guy in movies regardless of his recent troubles.

According to Showbiz411, producer Jerry Bruckheimer firmly believes that Johnny Depp won’t have any trouble recovering from such box office bombs as Transcendence ($65 million worldwide) and Disney’s The Lone Ranger ($260 million worldwide). While the latter isn’t nearly as awful as some would have you believe — this writer will gladly defend the film to those who trash it — people largely stayed away from the adaptation during its run in theaters.

When writer Roger Friedman asked Bruckheimer if Johnny Depp’s recent box office failures would ultimately kick the next Pirates of the Caribbean flick to the back burner, the legendary producer had a very simple and straightforward reply.

“No. Before ‘Pirates,’ Johnny did a lot of small movies. He even said, as the box office was coming in on the second ‘Pirates,’ that all his previous movies hadn’t added up to that one at the box office. That’s not what he’s about. He’ll be fine,” Bruckheimer explained.

Although The Lone Ranger and Transcendence weren’t huge box office earners, it’s clear that this doesn’t matter much to other filmmakers. Johnny Depp is currently attached to a number of upcoming projects, including Mathew Cullen’s feature-length debut London Fields.

Co-starring Theo James and Amber Heard, the thriller tells the story of a so-called femme fatale who “has been living with a dark premonition of her impending death by murder. She begins a tangled love affair with three uniquely different men: one of whom she knows will be her murderer.” The movie should arrive before the end of the year.

Depp also stars in Rob Marshall’s Into the Woods alongside Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt.
