Jill Duggar From ’19 Kids And Counting ‘ Engaged; They Just Met!

Jill Duggar recently got engaged to Derrick Dillard – shortly after flying to Nepal with her father Jim Bob to meet him in person for the first time. So, is a wedding in the near future for Jill Duggar?

Fans of the TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting, which follows the lives and misadventures of the Duggar family, have known for some time that the Duggar’s promote a form of courtship that limits young people’s time alone together while insisting that the couple form a solid -and adult supervised – friendship before becoming romantically involved.

So, is it really all that weird for two young people – Jill Duggar is 22 while Dillard is 25 – to be introduced by the girl’s father, fall in love while in a long distance relationship and then meet for the first time in a foreign country? It’s not just odd by Western or American standards. According to a report in Zap2It, older sister Jana Duggar said, “Even for a Duggar, this is pretty weird.”

So how’s a Duggar to go about getting engaged with the family’s brand of courtship? A related story in the Inquisitr tells how Duggar dad Jim Bob introduced the couple.

The couple met in person for the first time when the Duggar clan’s patriarch Jim Bob – who also introduced the couple and encouraged them to begin emailing one another and getting to know one another via Skype – took Jill to meet Derrick in Nepal, where he has been doing missionary work for much of the past year. It didn’t take long until the two decided to get engaged.

According to an ABC News report, Jill Duggar had this to say of her Derrick – to whom she is now engaged – after meeting him for the first time in person:

“He was so sweet! He greeted me with flowers and yeah, it was crazy because I had been preparing for this moment. Everything just went really smoothly… perfect moment.”

Apparently, Dillard felt much the same way, saying, “I’ve never missed someone so much who I’ve never met before!”

So, when can we expect a Derrick Dillard – Jill Duggar wedding? No one’s saying – yet – when we expect wedding bells for Jill Duggar and her new fiancee, but chances are fans of 19 Kids and Counting will know as soon as anyone. Fans will also get to see the “perfect moment” when Derrick and Jill first lay eyes on one another in person, shortly before becoming engaged.

Like all of the Duggar children, Jill agreed not to begin dating, looking for a husband or getting engaged until after she turned 20. It goes without saying that this flies in the face of typical American – and Western – culture, even though the historical norm – arranged marriages – is considerably more restrictive.
