Ariel Castro Allegedly Wanted His Captives To Escape
Ariel Castro loved his daughter, and wanted her and the three women he held captive to escape what is now known as his “house of horrors,” or at least that is what Castro’ attorney is saying.
According to ABC News, Castro’s attorney, Craig Weintraub, is saying that the man who held three women captive for a decade knew he had to let them go, but didn’t have the “courage” to do it himself.
Weintraub is claiming that Castro allegedly knew that “the end was near” and intentionally left doors unlocked for the women in hopes that they would run and escape with the young girl that he had fathered with Amanda Berry. Castro allegedly grew attached to the girl, who was 6-years-old at the time she was rescued from the house of horrors, and according to his attorney, Castro knew the young girl needed to be raised in a “normal environment.”
“It wasn’t going well any longer. His daughter was at an age that she should not be in the house anymore. She needed to be in school and be in a normal environment, and she needed friends,” Weintraub said.
After this realization, Castro allegedly began to intentionally leave doors unlocked for the women when he left the home, according to NBC News. For years, Castro would carefully barricade the women in rooms upstairs when he had company, and even chained them up, according to an NBC News interview with Michelle Knight, one of the three captive women, that aired earlier this week.
The women were repeatedly abused during their time in the house of horrors, and even though Castro has been repeatedly described as an evil-minded person, Weintraub claims that Castro “dismissed thoughts of killing the women because of how it might affect his daughter.”
In a recent report by The Inquisitr, Michelle Knight publicly announced that she has forgiven Ariel Castro for the whole ordeal.
“If I did something wrong, even if it was a small thing, I would want somebody to forgive me, so I can forgive him for what he done wrong because that’s the way of life.”
In a recent interview with Today, Knight reportedly said she was saddened by Castro’s suicide, saying that “he was a human being, and every human being needs to be loved, even though they did something wrong.”
Did Castro love his daughter? And does he deserve Knight’s forgiveness after all that he did over the span of a decade? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
