Rita Ora never became romantically entangled with musician Nick Jonas, but that doesn’t mean the guy didn’t give it his best shot.
Although the Fifty Shades of Grey actress is comfy and cozy with DJ Calvin Harris, apparently the Jonas Brother really wanted to make Ora the centerpiece of his love life. In fact, the singer even dropped a line in the tune “What Do I Mean to You?” that specifically refers to his budding affection for Rita Ora.
According to Us Weekly , Andy Cohen discussed the tune with Ora during her recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live . Although Rita and Nick struck up a friendship last year, she said that the pair never took their relationship in a romantic direction.
“I have heard the song and I have heard that rumor and I really don’t know where it came from. [I] never [dated him]. I actually met Nick through a friend and it was a very weird situation because—obviously I was single at the time,” Ora explained to Cohen.
She added, “We were close, but it never went to that level. Then I read the lyric and I kind of messaged him and was like, ‘I have no idea where this came from. If you want to talk about it, call me.’”
Unfortunately for those who are curious about the lyric that caught Rita Ora’s attention, she didn’t reveal which part of the song tackled Jonas’ feelings about the singer. MTV News points out that Ora eventually spoke to Nick about the song and its surprising lyrical content. Despite some mixed signals, their friendship remains strong.
“He was like, ‘You know what, I just obviously didn’t put out how I felt across to you properly.’ And it was one of those situations. He never really told me that, I think, but regardless we’re still friends and I still have a lot of respect for him,” she said.
Unfortunately for Nick Jonas, Rita Ora is currently involved with Calvin Harris. In fact, their love runs so deep that the DJ devoted an entire room of his spacious abode to his girlfriend’s many accomplishments.
“Calvin went to the trouble of getting all of Rita’s gold and platinum single discs mounted onto the wall in one of the rooms at his Los Angeles place. It has the platinum discs for ‘R.I.P.’ and ‘How We Do’ from Australia, the gold discs from ‘How We Do’ from the UK and New Zealand, and still photographs of Rita acting in the new ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ movie,” an insider recent dished.
Are you surprised that Nick Jonas addressed his feelings about Rita Ora in a song?
