Connecticut Teen Stabbed To Death Allegedly When She Refused A Date To Prom
A 16-year-old junior from Jonathan Law High School in Connecticut was stabbed to death this morning, according to The Courant. Police are investigating rumors that the 16-year-old male murdered her because she rejected his offer to take her to the prom. The male student is in custody, but police will not release his name at this time due to the suspect’s age. The teen who was murdered in school has been identified as Maren Sanchez. Classmates and friends mourn her passing. Students reported a highly emotional scene with classmates crying as “police and paramedics swarmed the school after the teen was stabbed,” KTUL reported.

“We’ll get the bottom of it on how it happened and why,” Police Chief Keith Mello told CT News about the rumors the teen was stabbed for rejecting the young man’s offer to take her to the prom. The chief said he is unsure if any other teens saw the attack as it happened, but it is possible other students may have seen the entire murder. Chief Mellow wouldn’t comment on exactly how she died but stated, “there were some severe injuries visible around the neck.”
Condolences have even popped up on Maren’s other online platforms, like her YouTube video that she uploaded of a performance she gave. Watch Maren Sanchez’ beautiful performance:
