Chelsi Camp, a Texas mother, bravely bit off a pit bull’s ear to save her daughter when she was being attacked by the animal. Her daughter, Mackenzi Plass, or Kenzi for short, isn’t even three yet, and faced a life threatening and traumatic situation during the attack.

Last March, Camp was dog sitting the pit bull for friends in her South Shore Apartments home when her daughter was suddenly attacked by the potentially dangerous animal.

Camp spoke about the injuries Kenzi suffered as a result of the attack: “She’s doing great. You wouldn’t know it if you couldn’t see.” Speaking about the attack itself she added: “You do whatever you can. I don’t have physical strength at my side.”

Recounting the traumatic incident Camp continued : “The dog came up and he was just curious. When he smelled her, that’s when you saw it flip because I think he smelled my dog on her.”

Camp recalled that she shoved her fist into the dogs mouth and bit its ear off while instructing her screaming daughter to turn over so she didn’t choke on her own blood.

“I only know to fight so how else do you get somebody to stop. I mean I would do the same thing with a human being,” Camp added. During the struggle Camp managed to call 911; officers showed up and shot the animal, but not fatally.

The brave mother spoke about her recovery since the dog attack, and the fact she is back at work. Referring to her daughter, she said: “I can actually hold her again. I couldn’t hold her for the first week that was the hardest part.”

Kenzi is still recovering from the ordeal and has been instructed by doctors to stay out of direct sunlight. The pit bull was later put to sleep by vets.
