CM Punk: WWE Return Could Be Likely As AJ Lee Returns In June

Let’s be honest, no one knows exactly what it going through the mind of WWE Superstar CM Punk. Most fans still have yet to understand why he left fully, and why he decided to call it quits for as long as he has. Yet CM Punk is still beloved by the WWE fans, and thus, they want to see him back on WWE TV. The thing is, we don’t know when that will be. Or do we?

AJ Lee dropped the Diva’s Championship to Paige recently, as she was set to leave to get things ready for a wedding with CM Punk. For those that do not know, AJ and Punk dated for some time. Punk asked her in the last month or so to marry him, she said yes, and so WWE allowed her to leave to get everything settled with that.

She is set to be on WWE’s European Tour in late May, but will be back on American soil for TV in June. Interestingly enough, CM Punk’s WWE contract expires around this time. So why would AJ pick to come back then when she could easily be back in a more speedy time, knowing she was not injured…despite what WWE claimed on a leaked RAW script.

Many people think that Punk’s contract being up means that he is obviously done with wrestling…at least for a while. The thing is, his soon to be wife has no plans on leaving. She is still under a WWE contract for a while. So, why would he not go out with her when he knows the WWE schedule?

Like Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan, the two are both WWE talents who are both on the road together. They appear on the same shows in the same areas. They potentially asked WWE for this.

So it would make complete sense that Punk would come back after a 6 month break, sign a new deal that would have him with more off-time, and yet allow himself to be out with AJ as much as possible. Wrestling relationships have failed when one person was home for so long. Even Booker T saw his relationship only getting stronger by having his wife with him more, which is why she came in and was paired with him.

Bobby Lashley brought his wife with him when he went to TNA, although she did have WWE work in her resume.

The thing is, wrestling couples are stronger when paired more often. When one is home, it only makes things harder. AJ cannot take off a lot, because she is one of the best Divas in the company. WWE will not allow her extended time off unless she gets hurt, and even then she might be asked to do a lot. AJ is willing to get married to Punk, which is a good thing to see.

Obviously AJ will want to start a family one day and CM Punk would potentially want that too. The fact that Punk asked AJ to marry him and they are both going to be tying the knot soon means that Punk is obviously wanting to settle down. This would make some believe that he would be done with the WWE all together. However, when your new wife is gone 300 days a year and you’re at home, how can a marriage really work? Especially when the man is sitting at home, not the woman.

CM Punk seems like the type of guy who is willing to trust AJ on the road, but he is by no means able to really feel married when he is away from his wife far more than with her.

CM Punk now has leverage. WWE wants him, and they know he doesn’t want to work as much. He would be coming off of a near 6 month break, which means he is fresh and able to return at any moment. So WWE would want to jump in to sign him t a new deal, similar to that of a Brock Lesnar, Chris Jericho, or RVD. He could work a few months here and there, and get time off. This way, his body would be okay, but he’d still be able to work a lot for the fans to love him and Punk would spend a lot more time with his new wife.

Rumor has it that WWE has been negotiating all along with Punk about a return, they simply have just not agreed to terms yet. They very well could have agreed to terms, but we just don’t know. Even if they did not, and figured they wouldn’t, time can heal all wounds.

Will CM Punk come back in June, around the time his new bride returns? It is very likely. Sadly though, it cannot be confirmed. He’d have to sign a new deal, for the right price. He’d also need to know he could have a creative direction with his character and could take time off when he needs it. This way, nagging injuries would not get worse. We shall see what becomes of it. Stay tuned to IQ for more as we know it.
