‘Big Bang Theory’ Series End In Sight, Cliffhanger To End Season 7
The Big Bang Theory series’ end is in sight; what’s more, season 7 is going to end with a big cliffhanger that doesn’t directly involve any of the Big Bang Theory’s main stars.
The Big Bang Theory has been making smart and nerdy the new cool for the better part of seven years, but according to a Hollywood Reporterinterview with show runner Steve Molaro, the current plans are to finish out the current three year extension and end the popular sitcom’s run after season ten.
So, fret not, Big Bang Theory fans, the series end is at least three years away. Still, for those of us who have grown accustomed to spending a half hour weekly with Leonard, Howard, Raj and Sheldon – not to mention Penny, who we hear got her hair cut, short – the thought of the series coming to an end – even three years from now – is unwelcome news, indeed.
Maybe it’s for the best. If The Big Bang Theory manages to avoid jumping the shark for three more years, we’ll have had ten seasons of Nerdvana – about as much as can be expected from any TV series. Let’s face it, we’ve watched as our favorite band of intrepid Big Bang Theory misfits have learned to be, well, somewhat less misfit-esque.
Think about it. Howard has gone from just plain creepy to being a (more or less) respectable married man. All he needs are a couple of kids and he’s practically Ward Cleaver – OK, maybe that’s a bit much, but he’s becoming normal-ish. Raj is talking to girls now, even when he isn’t drunk. Does anyone really think Penny and Leonard won’t give in and tie the knot at some point? Heck, Sheldon has even had his first kiss – and several since.
An E! report quotes Molaro on the Big Bang Theory series end:
“I’m going to move forward along with Chuck (Lorre, the Big Bang Theory’s co-creator) that 10 is the end unless we’re told otherwise. These are decisions that are so far away I can’t really even think about that. I have no choice but to move forward. It’s so far away. The mindset is it’s going to be the 10 and then we’ll see what happens after that.”
So, now that we have the prospect of the Big Bang Theory series end on our radar, what can we expect from the rest of the Big Bang Theory season 7? According to the Hollywood Reporter article, we can expect Howard and Bernadette to take on a bigger role in taking care of Howard’s mother and Penny and Leonard will continue to explore the question of whether they should pop the question (if it’s going down, no one is spilling the beans, at least not yet).
So, what do you think? Is the Big Bang Theory series end is in three years, will it be enough to get your Big Bang Theory fix…and does knowing the end could be in sight three years ahead of time help?
