Nicki Minaj: No More Pink Wigs, Bubblegum Lipsticks

Nicki Minaj is reportedly ditching her pink wigs and her bubblegum lipsticks for simpler black hair, “saner” make-up and plain, tight dresses – and this turns out to be shocking the music star’s fans even more!

Nicki, whose crazy outfits and wild stage behavior closely competes with that of Lady Gaga, is reportedly leaving behind a whole, stable career built entirely on eccentric clothing and insane performances to start anew with a simpler – dare we say, more decent – persona. On her rebranding, Minaj had this to say:

“I went so far to the other side that there’s only one place to go from there. You can either continue doing costumes or you can just say, ‘Hey guess what? This will shock them even more. Doing nothing will shock them even more.'”

We got a quick peek, thanks to US Magazine, of Nicki’s transformation during the premiere of The Other Woman, where she was seen in a stunningly beautiful peach-colored gown and long, straight, black hair. No obnoxious colors could be seen within the close proximity. This truly is a brand new Nicki Minaj, and we’re excited to see more!

According to the Huffington Post, Nicki Minaj’s overhaul is related to her upcoming album Pink Print, which taps more into her rapping skills. Sources say that this album will be significantly different from her previous hits like Superbass and Starships.

When asked if she’s going to insert a couple of her old pop music sounds into the new album, Nicki Minaj had a simple, straightforward answer:

“Hell, no!”

This probably means that Nicki is totally abandoning the style that made her famous for more “serious” art, a move which might seriously disappoint some fans who enjoys her usual shtick. But then again, all of these is just a big “probably”. We have to wait for a few more months and see for ourselves if the old Nicki has gone and the new has come.

And if anyone deserves a makeover, it’s Nicki, whose outlandishness has been driving fans crazy since 2007. We don’t blame her for taking the next step in her career. Minaj is already 31 for crying out load! She can’t stay weird forever.

Her songs will be sang with the same voice. We’ll never know for sure if the auto-tune decreases, but surely, it will still be the same Nicki Minaj behind the microphone. And that is all we really want, right?
