During his career as a professional wrestler, as part of the WWF/WWE’s “Attitude” era, Stone Cold Steve Austin was never one to mince words and was as cantankerous and controversial as they come.
What?
While Steve Austin may have cut a legendary promo or two in his day, what may (or may not) be his most shocking smackdown is his impressively profane support of same-sex marriage.
What?
The folks at Deadspin dug up the audio from the “Texas Rattlesnake’s” own podcast — “The Steve Austin Show – Unleashed!” — from July 16, 2013, in which Stone Cold tells it like it is.
“I’m for same-sex marriage. I don’t give a s**t if two guys, two gals, guy-gal, whatever it is, I believe that any human being in America, or any human being in the g**damn world, that wants to be married, and if it’s same-sex, more power to ’em.”
Can I get a “Hell Yeah!”?
But Austin wasn’t done dropping the Stunner yet. In talking with his pal Ted Fowler at Broken Skull Ranch, Stone Cold took it a step further and challenged any institution that condemned the idea of same-sex marriage.
“What also chaps my ass, some of these churches, have the high horse that they get on and say ‘we as a church do not believe in that.’ Which one of these motherf***ers talked to God, and God said that same-sex marriage was a no-can-do?”
What really seemed to bug Steve was the hypocrisy and inequality of believers’ concept of redemption.
“OK, so two cats can’t get married if they want to get married, but then a guy can go murder 14 people, molest five kids, then go to f***ing prison, and accept God and He’s going to let him into heaven? After the fact that he did all that s**t? See that’s all horses**t to me, that don’t jive with me.”
That must be the bottom line, cuz Stone Cold said so!
Stone Cold Steve Austin’s same-sex marriage diatribe starts at the 53:35 mark.
