Flight MH370 Debris? ‘Object Of Interest’ Washes Ashore South Of Perth, Australia

An “object of interest” has washed ashore the western Australia coast that could be debris from the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, investigators reported on Wednesday.

After weeks of fruitless searches and the interruption of the hopeful signs from the airliner’s black boxes, searchers have been hitting road block after road block in their continued mission to find something, anything in connection to the mysterious disappearance of Flight MH370 on March 8.

Those looking tirelessly for the missing jetliner are hoping the debris could confirm that Flight MH370 met its fate in the waters west of Perth, Australia.

All of the information regarding the possible whereabouts of the doomed flight is based on radar, satellite, and other information, however, in the more-than one month search, investigators don’t have one single piece of concrete evidence and though other debris has been spotted floating around in the search area, all leads had been dead ends.

To experts and observers alike, it is impossible to believe that not a life vest, seat cushion, piece of clothing, or part of the fuselage hasn’t been found floating in the waters of the southern Indian Ocean and so today’s news gives families and search crews hope that they have finally stumbled upon Flight MH370’s wreckage.

Australian Transport Safety Bureau Chief Commissioner Martin Dolan said the object appears to be sheet metal with rivets and it was recovered on the coast of Western Australia, “It’s sufficiently interesting for us to take a look at the photographs,” he said. “We take all leads seriously.”

Malaysian authorities, as well as their Australian counterparts are warning not too get to excited about this piece of debris and thus far it doesn’t look promising.

“The more we look at it, the less excited we get,” Dolan said.

A source with the Australian Defense Force told CNN said the object was picked up about 186 miles south of Perth and described it as “kind of rectangular,” however, it is torn and the shape is irregular.

No additional comment from authorities, regarding the possible piece of Flight MH370 debris was made public.

The Bluefin-21, a US Navy, unmanned submarine is nearly done with the exploration of the search area investigators believed could be the place where Flight MH370 crashed, with no results.

However, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said on Wednesday that the search for Flight MH370 will go on and his country will not “abandon the families” of the 239 passengers on board the missing plane and “will not rest” as long as they have any lead.
