WWE News: Plans For The Shield vs Evolution
WWE has been understanding for some time that The Shield was a special faction that could go down as one of the best the WWE has ever had. Made up of three guys that are potential main eventers in Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins, the trio has taken the WWE by storm and it’s said that veterans have taken notice.
The New Age Outlaws wanted to face them, which is why The Shield stayed together when original plans called for them to end before WrestleMania. So the trio took on the Outlaws in Kane in a match at WrestleMania. The Shield ended up crushing the Outlaws and Kane.
Triple H, who happens to be the head of talent operations for WWE in real life and is COO on TV, has taken major notice when it comes to The Shield. He is very high on all members and feels that they are all future main event talent. Due to this, he wanted to work with them as well. This is why many believe that The Shield will be WWE’s “summer angle”.
The current plan is to have Roman Reigns face Triple H at Summerslam. However, to set up to that the WWE must first have the entire Shield group do great stories to set up for this. That is why the WWE has decided to bring back Evolution.
Evolution was a popular group that was led by Triple H. It had a literal evolution of talent. The group members were the current main event star Triple H, the former main eventer Ric Flair, and the two up and coming stars Batista and Randy Orton.
Obviously Orton and Batista went on to become multi-time World Champions, just like their Evolution mentors. Now that all three active men are in WWE together again, it makes complete sense to bring the group back to rival The Shield.
The idea simply is to have The Authority work with The Shield to help build them up. Then there is a potential idea to break them up down the line.
One idea floating around is that the Roman Reigns/Triple H match could be stretched out as far as the Fall, into Hell in a Cell or Survivor Series.
If the match takes place at Survivor Series, it would make two years that The Shield had been together. There is currently very little set up for a break up. Obviously WWE will throw stuff in there leading into it all. However, the entire thing could begin after the program with Evolution and The Authority. By then, the WWE would be able to have all three men big enough to split up.
They could go out on their own by that point, and then be major names in the WWE for years to come. Of course the entire set up appears to be awesome for the WWE. A lot of fans love The Shield, but having them work with Evolution could make things a lot more fun.
