Gwen Stefani Replaces Christina Aguilera On Season 7 Of “The Voice”
The No Doubt on-and-off-again lead singer Gwen Stefani was just announced to be replacing Christina Aguilera as coach on the 7th installment of The Voice. TMZ reports that due to Aguilera’s pregnancy, Stefani will be taking over her spot when filming begins on the new season in June. Stefani’s job isn’t permanent, however, as Aguilera plans to return to her chair the following season.
Stefani will be joined by newcomer Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton when the new season boots up, if she actually takes the job. While Us Weekly also confirmed Gwen’s new gig, claiming a source who stated Stefani’s “contract is now done,” an NBC representative earlier in the week stated, concerning the new season and Gwen’s potential role in it, “We haven’t made any decisions at this point.” Hollywood Life then “exclusively” claimed that “The rumors are true, Gwen will be taking the job,” according to an unconfirmed source. Still, the line-up looks great and if Stefani steps up into the spotlight, it’s sure to be a powerful season.
Yet as Gwen steps in, one of the other main members of the show may be hanging up his hat when Aguilera returns. Hollywood Life reveals that Adam Levine may be wanting to stretch his ambitions away from The Voice, at least for a season or two. While Levine has plenty of work on his hands with his new line of women’s fashion he contracted with Kmart, the 35 year-old hasn’t made any commitments yet. “It is all his decision if he wants to take the time off or not,” Life’s insider revealed. When asked if Usher should replace Levine were he to leave, a popular choice with the fans of the show, the claimant doesn’t make things look hopeful.
“Usher would not instantly be the one to replace him,” the source claims. “They would get someone new if Adam decides to leave.”
While everyone is claiming Stefani will be on The Voice except Gwen herself, the 44-year-old bombshell was happy to spread a little easter cheer with a flashback picture of adorable proportions on Instagram this friday. Gwen will be celebrating the first Easter of her youngest of her three children, Apollo, who was born February 28.
