Paul Walker’s Brothers To Complete His Role For ‘Fast & Furious 7’
Since Paul Walker’s death many questions have arisen in regards to what Universal is planning for the installment of Fast & Furious 7. At the time the production was on a holiday hiatus when Walker perished in a fiery car crash. While many options were being explored after his death, it seems like the powers that be, along with Walker’s family, have settled on a strategy that works for both fans and his loved ones.
Paul Walker’s younger brothers Cody and Caleb will both step in for Walker to complete his role as Brian O’Conner in the Fast & Furious franchise. Since filming resumed there was a large tip that production had decided to use CGI and multiple doubles to replace Walker’s presence on set, but it wasn’t said who those doubles were at the time.
Now production has officially announced that Cody and Caleb Walker are lending a hand to honor their brother’s legacy so his story in the Fast & Furious films can end with a happy ending, unlike the 40-year-old’s untimely death. Walker’s brothers will help fill out sequences that needed more footage from the action star.
The statement from Universal comes from their official Facebook page in a post titled “A Note to the Fans of FAST & FURIOUS:
“We came together and all felt the only choice was to continue. We believe our fans want that, and we believe Paul would want that too. Paul had already shot his dramatic scenes and most of his action for FAST & FURIOUS 7, and it’s among the strongest work of his career.”
“We have resumed shooting and now welcome Paul’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, into our FAST family. Caleb and Cody are helping us complete some remaining action for their brother and fill in small gaps left in production. Having them on set has made us all feel that Paul is with us too.”
“We are just under a year away from the release of FAST & FURIOUS 7, and this film is the most important we’ve ever done together. It will allow the character of Brian O’Conner to live on and let us celebrate Paul in his most defining role.”
Prior to the announcement rumors were circulating that Cody Walker would be asked to replace his brother for additional scenes, so it’s nice to see that both brothers will be included in this special memorializing. For the most part, the youngest Walker brother, Cody has taken charge of being a public figure in the aftermath of Paul’s death. Opening up a fan Facebook account, Cody constantly posts family photos from back in the day, along with positives messages and memories about his older brother who he clearly idolized.
In addition Cody has taken over Paul’s position in the foundation Reach Out WorldWide as brand manager. A certified EMT, Cody made the move from Oregon where he pursued schooling, to Southern California when the tragedy hit. On his official Facebook page Cody stated:
“My plan had always been to play the role as a ROWW volunteer as time would allow, but not until I had finished school. Sadly, we lost my brother Paul on November 30th, not six months after completion of school. As the youngest in the family, there was no other person in the world whom I wanted approval from more than my oldest brother Paul. “
Fast & Furious 7 is scheduled to hit theaters on April 10, 2015.
