Aldon Smith Arrest At LAX, Another Headache For SF 49ers [Video]
Aldon Smith, the San Francisco 49ers linebacker, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) for making claims that he had a bomb and not cooperating with security personnel.
Los Angeles Police Department Sargeant Karla Ortiz put out the following statement regarding the altercation that led to Smith’s arrest:
“At approximately 1400 hrs, a 25-year-old male resident of San Jose, California, was going through Terminal 1 screening and was randomly selected for a secondary screening. The suspect then became belligerent and uncooperative with the process and with the TSA agent, making a comment indicating that he was in possession of a bomb before proceeding towards the gate area.”
“Los Angeles Airport Police made contact with him at the gate and he was positively identified as the person in question. Once again the male subject became uncooperative and he was detained and taken into custody by Airport Police and is currently being transported to LAPD for booking.”
According to a report on TMZ, Aldon Smith was arrested by police after a confrontation at Gate 6, Terminal 1, where the football player got into a scuffle with the person manning the gate for unknown reasons.

An eyewitness reported that Smith said, “I did nothing wrong” and things escalated from there, as police were trying to calm him down and he became agitated.
The San Francisco 49ers General Manager issued the following statement after news of Smith’s arrest became public:
“We are disappointed to learn of the incident today involving Aldon Smith. As this is a pending legal matter and we are still gathering the pertinent facts, we will have no further comment.”
This is not the first time the 49ers linebacker has had run inns with the law, in September of last year Aldon Smith was arrested following a single-car accident in San Jose, for suspicion of driving under the influence. Two days later his team faced the Indianapolis Colts and he checked himself into a rehab center for substance abuse afterwards.
In June of 2012 Smith suffered stab wounds at a party at his home in San Jose and was later charged with three felony counts for possessing illegal assault riffles. He was also arrested on suspicion of driving drunk in January of the same year.
Aldon Smith’s arrest is the latest headache facing the San Francisco 49ers. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick and wide receiver Quinton Patton are under investigation for an alleged incident with a woman in Miami on April 1.
