Nicki Minaj To Young Cancer Patient – ‘I Think You’re Beautiful’ [Video]

A very young cancer patient’s fondest wish, to meet Nicki Minaj, has gained quite a bit of attention in this last month. Damiyah Telemaque-Nelson, known more commonly as Miyah, is a five year old girl who was diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma in October of last year. When asked by her mom, Kadisha Telemaque, what she wanted, the brave child said, “I want to meet Nicki Minaj.”

In the last several months, Telemaque has watched her daughter undergo chemotherapy, dialysis, spinal taps, and long stays at Children’s National Medical Center. This is not something that any mother should have to endure, and seeing the extreme bravery exhibited by your ill child every single day, you would move mountains just to see her smile. That is exactly what Miyah’s mom did. When faced with the daunting task of contacting Nicki Minaj for Miyah, Kadisha did not shy away from the near impossibility. Along with friends, she began leaving messages on social media sites for Nicki Minaj.

Minaj did not at first become aware of the messages, but they were seen by the Wizards point guard, John Wall. According to The Washington Post, Wall has some connections with people who know Nicki Minaj. John brought Miyah and her mom to the Verizon Center and recorded a video to send to Nicki Minaj via social media.

In the video below, the adorable girl says, “I want to meet Nicki Minaj, and I want one of her pink wigs.”

Once Nicki Minaj was aware of the situation, she was immediately on board. Nicki responded to the Instagram video right away, so Miyah would know she had seen it. “Hi Miyah!!” Minaj wrote. “Let’s see what we can come up with for a pretty little princess.”

Within a month, Miyah’s dream came true, and she was actually meeting Nicki Minaj. The star presented the child with a box decked out in ribbons, and the little girl pulled out a bright pink wig, fulfilling another of her desires. “Her smile, it lit the room up,” Kadisha said to The Washington Post’s Dan Steinberg. “To her, it was all like a dream.”

It is heartwarming, indeed, to see two busy superstars take the time to meet with a sick child on a personal level. We can never know how difficult the journey of the past months have been for Miyah and her mom, but this celebrity meeting is surely a bright spot in their lives. Kudos to John Wall and Nicki Minaj for truly caring about the feelings of little Miyah.
