Kate Mara On ‘Fantastic Four’ – It May Not Be What People Expect
Kate Mara, star of House Of Cards, confirmed that she has been cast as the Invisible Woman in the new Fantastic Four reboot. This comes amidst rumors that Mara has been cast as Michelle Knight in an upcoming movie about the Ohio woman who was kidnapped by Ariel Castro many years ago. Knight, along with two other women, were held captive in Castro’s home. They finally escaped in May of last year.
Kate has denied these claims. To dispel rumors, Mara posted a link on Twitter to an article with the false reports, stating, “Wait. I did? I should call my agent…” That should certainly set the record straight!
Fantastic Four is scheduled to start filming in the next few weeks. Says Kate Mara of the comic book: “Well I don’t know very much about it, which is weird but true! Umm, all I know is that it’s going to be a very different take on the film, which people may not expect. I’m not really familiar with the comic books…I picked up a few when I got the part. I think we’re making a very grounded version of a superhero film. I trust Josh Trank’s vision as I was a huge fan of Chronicle.”
Mara does not give us any details about how the movie differs from the comic, or exactly what she means by “grounded.” I suppose we will have to stay tuned for more tidbits of information. Fantastic Four is slated to be released in the UK in June of next year.
In the meantime, Kate Mara has been busy working out for her new role, which is sure to include some snug-fitting, sexy costumes which seem to be a staple of the superhero/action film industry. Mara says her workout routine includes the Bar Method, as well as pilates. Apparently, she hasn’t been given specific requirements yet for her new role as Invisible Woman. According to E Online, Kate Mara says, “I haven’t been told anything specifically yet, but that could change once we start filming.”
The new Fantastic Four film is sure to delight fans of the comic book, as well as those who are new to the genre. Kate Mara will certainly bring an exciting new life to her role of the Invisible Woman.
What do you think about the House of Cards actress as the Invisible Woman? Is this a good fit for Kate Mara? Who would you cast in that spot instead?
