Christina Hendricks To ‘Game Of Thrones’? ‘Mad Men’ Actress Wants It To Happen
Christina Hendricks has confirmed that she would love to appear on Game Of Thrones, however there’s just one issue – she’s never actually seen the show.
Hendricks appeared on Conan on Monday night to promote the upcoming first part to Mad Men’s final season, where she was asked about comments she had previously made about wanting to joining the large HBO ensemble.
In December, Hendricks told the Hollywood Reporter, “I also want to be on Game Of Thrones. I want to wear pelts and horns and ride around on horseback.”
However, during her appearance on the talk show she admitted that, although her husband loves the show and she has only heard wonderful things, she has actually never seen it.
When Conan asked how the rumor got stated, Hendricks recalled, “One day, someone said, ‘What show would be fun?’ And I was just thinking about all those pelts and horns and wolves and horses – or whatever they have – and I said, Game of Thrones! I thought it would be fun to sort of get into that whole time period, and all the crazy costumes.”
Hendricks admitted that she didn’t realise her comments would cause so much mayhem as she continued, “And the next thing you know, everyone was like, ‘Christina wants to star in Game Of Thrones!’ I’d be thrilled. I’d be so lucky.”
Of course, Hendricks shot to fame thanks to her starring role as Joan Holloway in AMC’s Mad Men, which has since seen her star in the likes of Drive as well as the upcoming Dark Places, which she will star alongside Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike in, and is written and directed by Giles Pacquet-Brenner.
The first half of Mad Men’s final season, which has been titled, The Beginning, is set to begin on AMC on Sunday. It will last for seven episodes, before culminating for a year long break. The second half of the show’s final season, which has been called The End of an Era, will also only run for seven episodes and will begin in the spring of 2015.
Meanwhile, Game Of Thrones’ fourth season returned to HBO last Sunday with its opening instalment, Two Swords. This episode was watched by 6.64million viewers, and the show will continue for the next nine weeks before concluding on June 15, 2014.
