Joe Jonas Talks Justin Bieber’s Legal Woes, ‘We All Saw It Coming’
Justin Bieber may not like what Joe Jonas has to say about his legal woes and why he’s in trouble, but Jonas is talking anyway.
Opening up in the new issue of Scene Magazine, Joe is the latest celebrity to weigh in on Justin’s dramatic year. While expressing sympathy for Bieber as having a tougher time than him, the 24-year-old puts the Canadian star’s run-ins with the law down to his dad, Jeremy’s influence.
The former Jonas brother may have had a difficult split with the family band five months ago, but tells Scene:
“I’ve had an easier route than most. The youngsters just turning 20, the Biebers of the world, are under a microscope.”
Jonas went on to say, “[Bieber] is having a very tough time finding balance. I think we all saw it coming. Your dad is your party animal — that’s going to sum it up pretty quick.”
He adds, “There’s an equation for some sort of explosion.”
Joe is referring to Jeremy Bieber, who has been cited in media reports on Bieber’s many legal woes as a bad example.
Jeremy separated from Justin’s mother, Pattie Mallette, about 10 months after his son’s birth. The father-of-three has two other children Jazmyn, 5, and Jaxon, 4, with his former partner Erin Wagner and lives in Stratford, Canada, in a $850,000 farm property bought by the singer.
In January, Bieber was accused of egging the house of his estranged former neighbor in Calabsas, California, and is waiting to see if he will be charged for his alleged offence.
On January 23, Justin was arrested suspicion of DUI in Miami Beach, Florida, while in the company of his father and others.
He has pleaded not guilty to all three charges of driving under the influence, driving with an expired license, and resisting arrest without violence.
A few days later, Bieber surrendered to Toronto police to be charged with assault over an alleged incident from last December.
Then on January 31 he, his dad, and 10 friends were accused of smoking marijuana on a private flight from Canada to New Jersey’s Teterboro airport and allegedly verbally abusing a flight attendant.
Mail Online quotes one source said to be worried that Justin back in Canada after a sojourn in Atlanta and within easy reach of his father, who was previously jailed for assault.
“Whenever Justin is with Jeremy they seem to get in trouble. ”
The purported insider added, “Far from being a good influence he seems to encourage him, if he ends up spending the next two months with him, we could be in for an eventful time.”
Jonas also spoke to Scene about ongoing work on his new solo album, revealing, “I’m trying to [make it] something that I really want it to be — do music that I’m really proud of and not let too many cooks in the kitchen.”
He went on to say, “There are always stereotypes when people think of a band, any artist, that they’re going to sound like a certain thing. [I hope that] when I hit the reset button and release new music, fresh ears will listen open-minded and not judge.”
