Lil Marc Dead: Chicago Rapper Murdered Days After Dissing Lil Reese

Lil Marc was a rising Chicago rapper and Young Money 051 member, but now he is dead after being gunned down in broad daylight.

The rapper was shot as he stood at a bus stop on Friday afternoon. The shooting took place at close to 1:30 pm on the 300 block of East 51st Street. Pictures from the scene showed Lil Marc lying in the street while police blocked off a portion of the road.

His death comes just days after the release of a controversial dis track in which Lil Marc took aim at rival gang members, many of whom were dead.

“Mask up, young n*ggas on dummy, catch you in broad day leave em like J Money,” he rapped, reportedly referring to a murdered gang member.

He also appeared to take aim at rapper Lil Reese. The music video also featured a clip of Lil Marc in a Facetime conversation with Lil Reese where the two men from rival gangs taunt each other, though it is not clear if it was serious or in jest.

Lil Marc is now the 60th person killed in Chicago this year and the latest in a string of rappers who have died suddenly.

In June rapper Lil Snupe was gunned down in Louisiana. Afterward his mentor Meek Mill implied that Snupe had a hard time breaking with his old life.

“R.I.P 2 my lil f—ing ni–a #lilsnupe I tried everything in my power 2 get that kid out of the streets!” Meek wrote in a tweet he would later delete.

Police in Chicago said that Lil Marc was shot in the head, and a witness said a gunman shot the 20-year-old rapper using a handgun with an extended clip. The witness ran for cover and was unable to see the gunman’s face.

Other witnesses said the gunman drove a silver minivan with Florida license plates. Police later found the car, in flames, on the 3700 block of South Ellis Avenue.

Police have not said if the shooting death of Lil Marc was at all connected to his dis track or rapper Lil Reese.
