‘Into The Storm’ First Trailer Drops 18-Years After Blockbuster ‘Twister’
An action packed first trailer for Steven Quale’s Into The Storm has made its debut, nearly two decades after the mega blockbuster Twister put audiences closer than ever to one of the terrifying storms.
The spectacular teaser trailer for Into The Storm is cleverly laid out with starts and stops of action packed scenes, showing the power a tornado can pack in very little time when it hits a small Midwest town.
Into The Storm, formerly titled Black Sky and Catergory Six’s official synopsis is as follows:
“In the span of a single day, the town of Silverton is ravaged by an unprecedented onslaught of tornadoes. The entire town is at the mercy of the erratic and deadly cyclones, even as storm trackers predict the worst is yet to come. Most people seek shelter, while others run towards the vortex, testing how far a storm chaser will go for that once-in-a-lifetime shot.”
“Told through the eyes and lenses of professional storm chasers, thrill-seeking amateurs, and courageous townspeople, Black Sky throws you directly into the eye of the storm to experience Mother Nature at her most extreme.”
Into The Storm stars British actor Richard Armitage (The Hobbit), as an assistant High School principal who starts overseeing graduation plans and ends up a desperate father looking for his missing teen son in the middle of the destruction the tornado unleashes.
In a 2012 interview for RAFrenzy.com, producer Todd Garner, said that Richard is not only “thoughtful and smart”, but helped sketch out several scenes for himself and other actors.
“He’s an amazing actor but also a terrific writer even though he wouldn’t say that. He has come up with great moments not only for himself and others but for the movie. In fact we just finished shooting a moment he came up with that might be in the trailer.”
The Walking Dead star Sarah Wayne Callies, plays a meteorologist who teams up with a storm chaser (Matt Walsh) waiting for the perfect shot to share with her viewers.
“I would love to do a project where I don’t almost die,” says Callies of Into The Storm “But I do think I’m drawn to stories about survival. They are so primal. You get into human behavior and really elemental things.”
Director Steven Quale — who worked as James Cameron’s second unit director in Avatar and Titanic — says Into The Storm will do for nature what Gravity did for space.
“In the past five years the activity has been insane. And the footage really shows the raw power that nature has. With filmmaking we can do justice to show how beautiful, deadly and spectacular these tornadoes can be. My goal was to make it as real as possible. We do an impressive job.”
Into The Storm slams into theaters on August 8.
