Bethenny Frankel Asked To Pay Ex’s Legal Fees In Bitter Divorce
Bethenny Frankel, the super-skinny dieting guru, will be footing a rather large legal bill if her soon-to-be-ex-husband, Jason Hoppy, gets his way.
The couple, who share a 3-year-old daughter called Bryn, are in the midst of a bitter divorce in which Hoppy, an account exec from AbbVie, wants her to cough up all the cash for the lawyers.
The court filings didn’t specify how much Hoppy owes in legal fees, but the type of marriage attorney’s Hollywood celebs use usually weigh in at a hefty $900 per hour. Back in January of 2013 Bethenny Frankel, who has a net worth of approximately $12 million, filed to end her marriage to Hoppy.
Hoppy may be getting desperate as he just sacked celebrity attorney Eleanor Alter. She represented Mia Farrow when she split from Woody Allen. He opted for another Hollywood attorney, Bernard Clair, who recently assisted Lauren Silverman to end her marriage.
The court proceedings are clearly not much fun for either of them, as Frankel suggested to Andy Cohen in an interview where she said she was in a “really surreal, crazy insane situation.”
She told Cohen on Watch What Happens Live this week, that she is once again on the proverbial singles market: “I am dating, and I’m happy,” she said. She added, “I finally feel a little bit of liberation, a little bit of freedom, just a little bit of not feeling so bad. It’s been a really, really hard time, let’s put it that way.”
Last November Bethenny Frankel told Us Weekly that for a while the bitterness of her split from Hoppy had put her off romance altogether: “It’s like having food poisoning and not wanting to eat again. In theory it sounds somewhat appetizing, but in reality it just doesn’t seem all that interesting to me,” she explained.
When she was asked what she was going to do in lieu of her chat show flop which was axed, she said: “I played the fame game, I won, it’s good, but I don’t really want to do that right now. I don’t know what I’ll do next, but I keep getting kind of approached and offered different things.”
It;s good to see that Bethenny is able to remain this positive in light of her present circumstances.
