Chief Keef Involved In Shooting At Manager’s House, Drove Wounded Friend To Hospital
Chief Keef was at the scene of a shooting Wednesday on Chicago’s North Side and drove a wounded friend to the hospital, police said.
The Northfield Police Department released a statement saying that a victim was taken to Skokie Valley Hospital and was listed in stable condition. The shooting reportedly took place at a suburban home rented by the manager of Chief Keef.
Sources told WGN News that the rapper, whose real name is Keith Cozart, was questioned by police but no charges had been filed. A publicist for the rapper said he was not involved in the shooting directly.
The incident reportedly stemmed to an argument between two of the rapper’s friends. Chief Keef then drove the injured man to the hospital.
Neighbors have said there are frequent problems at the home where the shooting took place, and that they have called police several times. Police seem to be taking this investigation very seriously, and are closing off a six-block stretch of the street where the shooting took place through Friday.
This is one of many run-ins that the 19-year-old rapper has had with police. Chief Keef has been convicted in a number of weapon and drug related crimes, and recently got out of a stint in rehab after getting a DUI.
He later recorded a song called “F**k Rehab” and made a video showing the rapper breaking out of rehab two times.
“It’s like being locked up,” Chief Keef said of being in rehab. “And when I’m locked up, I don’t want anybody to come see me. I won’t let my family come here. I haven’t seen my 2-year-old daughter.”
While he has been in frequent police trouble, the Chicago rapper has also seen his career blossom. Chief Keef has been in the studio working on two projects, Bang 3 and Bang 4, and in February pictures were posted to Instagram showing him in the studio with Kanye West.
