Nina Dobrev Will Not Get A Kiss In The Rain From Ian Somerhalder

If you are anticipating another kiss in the rain between Nina Dobrev (Elena) and Ian Somerhalder (Damon) in Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries, the pair revealed at the PaleyFest held in the Dolby Theater on Saturday evening.

Dobrev and Somerhalder were joined by co-star Paul Wesley — who plays Stefan — and executive producers Julie Plec and Caroline Dries to talk about what’s in store for the protagonists of the popular series.

One thing was made clear, Ian refuses to do another kiss in the rain with Nina Dobrev, and it’s not what you think.

The last time Nina and her former real-life boyfriend tried the stunt, it didn’t end up good, as Somerhalder told those attending the presentation:

“First of all, it’s really cold in Georgia, so I don’t think that’s such a good idea. It was below 30 degrees, and it got so cold the muscles in my jaw froze and I couldn’t speak. I looked like I had Bell’s palsy.”

But that is not all and on a more serious note, Nina Dobrev got “really sick” after catching a chill and getting “icicles in my hair,” as she told the audience. So there goes the Twitter campaign to get Delena to smooch again.

“You write another rain kiss and I quit,” Ian said, threatening the show’s co-executive producer Julie Plec, according to EntertainmentWise.com.

Ian says that he and Nina’s character have had trouble keeping their pants on and need to have a serious conversation about their relationship status:

“When you have grown-up conversations, you have to put your big boy pants and big girl pants on and have the conversation. They keep taking their pants off, and that’s what gets in the way of the grown up conversations.”

The Hollywood Reporter says that the screams from the — mostly female — 2,600 fans that attended the Q&A were very loud and they definitely made a statement as to what they want to see from Nina and especially Ian Somerhalder in Season 5.

Most of the questions (and screeches) were reportedly directed at the hunky blue-eyed star, who was obviously the main attraction Saturday night.

Wesley — who makes his directorial debut this season — said fans will get a taste of Stelena (Stefan and Elena), which will be “reminiscent of season one,” however, don’t expect a love triangle between Damon, Elena, and Stefan.

“After all the things these boys have done to her, she’s going to be a lesbian,” Nina Dobrev joked.
