Angelina Jolie, Stella McCartney Join Forces For ‘Maleficent’ Clothing Line

Angelina Jolie and fashion designer Stella McCartney are teaming up with Disney to develop a line of kids clothes centered around the upcoming movie Maleficent.

Since the studio loves milking as much money as humanly possible from its motion pictures, Disney is hoping kids around the world will bug their parents for outfits inspired by the latest Angelina Jolie movie. To make sure the clothes are endlessly appealing, the company tapped McCartney to bring them to life.

According to Today, the clothing line will feature dresses and other apparel inspired by the character portrayed by Angelina Jolie in the latest cinematic take on Sleeping Beauty. Kids can also talk their parents into shelling out quite a bit of money for t-shirts featuring images of dragons. Mom and dad should anticipate spending between $75 to $185 on these outfits.

Not surprisingly, McCartney didn’t waste any time putting together designs for the proposed clothing line. This reportedly included a trip tot he set of Maleficent for a little inspiration.

“I’ve always been a huge fan of Disney growing up, as was my mother, and I grew up watching all the films like most kids did. When the opportunity presented itself and I was invited by Angelina Jolie to visit the film set, I jumped at the chance,” Stella said in a press release.

Women’s Wear Daily reports that the line is available for boys and girls between the ages of four and 14. Youngsters who are very interested in wearing a Maleficent-inspired outfit to a showing of the flick should pay a visit to the Stella McCartney store in their neck of the woods.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the clothing line co-designed by Angelina Jolie will help benefit charity. Ten percent of all sales will go directly to SOS Children’s Villages, an organization that helps build homes for needy kids. In other words, Disney isn’t getting all the money you spend on their spin-off clothes.

In case you haven’t heard, Jolie stars as the title character in director Robert Stromberg’s big-budget summer movie. The film follows the story of Maleficent and explains how she became one of the most feared villains in cinematic history. Angelina appears in the flick alongside Sharlto Copley and Elle Fanning. Look for the movie to hit the big screen across the country on May 30.
