Pizza Hut Wants To Give You Free Wings; Here’s How To Get Them
Pizza Hut — eager to promote its Wingstreet concept — wants to give you (and the rest of America) free wings. Unlike other promotions that require you to do something to get food for free, all Pizza Hut wants you to do is sit back and watch the NCAA tournament.
Pizza Hut has announced that if any team with a winged mascot wins the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, everybody in America receives four free wings. Just in case you aren’t sure who you should be rooting for, here are the teams in the tournament that have mascots with wings, according to NCAA basketball insider Darren Rovell.

In case you aren’t sure which universities match up with the mascot names, here is a list of who you should root for if you’re simply looking for some free wings from Pizza Hut.
- Kansas Jayhawks
- Louisville Cardinals
- Creighton Bluejays
- Iowa State Cyclones (mascot is a cardinal)

After the first three days of the tournament, 5 of these 11 teams remain. Of course, some of these teams are more likely to get you free Pizza Hut wings than others. Let’s put the remaining teams into a few categories:
Keep Your Wallet With You
A few of these teams have no shot at taking the tournament, so don’t count on getting a free meal from Pizza Hut if you’re rooting for North Carolina Central University or Coastal Carolina. Sorry. It’s not going to happen with them.
Stranger Things Have Happened
Dayton — who succeeded in its opening round game by upsetting Ohio State — is pretty unlikely to take the championship, but is capable of getting close. Oregon handily defeated BYU, but isn’t considered a threat to take it all. Pizza Hut feels pretty safe with these universities.
You’re Sayin’ There’s a Chance
Creighton has had an excellent season and features the nation’s top player, Doug McDermott. If Creighton gets hot, they’ve got a shot. Coming in as a 3-seed, Iowa State also has a good shot of taking it to the Final Four. Pizza Hut lovers will definitely start rooting for these teams.
Hope You’re Hungry
The two teams most likely to let you get your grub on are Kansas, 1 a 2-seed, and Louisville, who took home the title in 2013. Pizza Hut is most afraid of what these two teams can do.
