Drew Carey And Craig Ferguson Trading Jobs For April Fool’s Day
Drew Carey and Craig Ferguson have been close ever since their days on The Drew Carey show together, but the two are about to act out a bit of a television rivalry.
The longtime friends, who share a CBS studio together, have decided to raid the other’s show in the name of an April Fool’s Day prank. On April 1, Drew Carey will be taking over hosting duties on The Late Late Show, while Craig Ferguson will be taking contestants down to the Showcase Showdown on The Price Is Right.
In an interview together, the comedians couldn’t help but poke fun at each other a bit.
“I think Craig is the best late-night-show host,” said Carey, who just made his dancing debut on Dancing With the Stars.
“And I think Drew is one of the best Price Is Right hosts,” Ferguson replied, drawing a laugh from Carey.
The show trade-off is a not quite the traditional April Fool’s Day prank, especially since the stars are openly talking about it to promote the shows. But Ferguson at least maintained the appearance of a prank.
“Now this is for April Fools,’ so don’t tell anyone,” Ferguson joked.
Drew Carey will have a bit of a home-field advantage in his late-night duties. One of his guests is Connie Schultz, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist from his native Cleveland, and Drew is also bringing his TPIR announcer George Gray along with the show’s models.
Carey said he isn’t nervous about hosting duties, and plans to ad-lib his monologue rather than “burn my stand-up on the show.”
“Yeah, that’s right. Don’t throw it away,” Ferguson joked.
It won’t be entirely new ground. Drew Carey guest hosted The Late Late Show a few times before Craig Ferguson took over as host.
