Boyfriend Refuses to Buy Woman a McDonald’s McFlurry So She Torches His Car
A woman apparently in a hurry for a McFlurry allegedly set her boyfriend’s car on fire when he refused to buy her one. The dispute over the cold treat got hot very fast according to those who witnessed it.
The incident over the soft-serve desert happened at a Jacksonville, Forida, McDonald’s restaurant on Sunday shortly after midnight.
The couple were reportedly arguing inside the fast food eatery over their order. “A witness told [a Jacksonville] TV station that the woman wanted a McFlurry or ice cream, but when her boyfriend refused to buy it she got the keys to his 1994 El Dorado, soaked it in gasoline and then lit a match.”
A witness added that the woman shouted that “I’m going to blow it up,” and “it” turned out to be the vehicle.
The woman reportedly fled the scene after the vehicle was engulfed in flames. It was a flurry of activity after the McFlurry-related fire as bystanders tried to help put the man put out the fire before firefighters responded to the scene. The boyfriend also drove off after the fire was extinguished. Police indicated that the license plate and the registration on the vehicle don’t match.
This is hardly the first instance of fast-food freakouts at McDonald’s or elsewhere, although the rage is usually directed at employees rather than customer on customer. Most of these incidents also seem to occur at the drive-thru window.
For example, a Michigan woman who received the wrong fast-food order twice allegedly fired a shot at the McDonald’s drive-thru window. In a separate instance, a man smashed the drive-thru window with an axe when he received cold McDonald’s French fries. In another occurrence, a plain-clothes cop pulled a gun on a McDonald’s drive-thru slow poke. Separately, a Dunkin’ Donuts employee was pistol whipped after he made a mistake on a drive-thru order. Elsewhere, a man suffered a “meltdown” at the drive-thru window when he received a cheeseburger rather than a hamburger. In November, a man allegedly groped a female Arby’s drive-thru worker as she handed him his food at the window. Police managed to apprehend the man by following a trail of curly fries and sauce.
