Road Rage Murder: Video Of Seconds Before 1-81 Killing Of Timothy Davison Released
The road rage murder of Timothy “Asti” Davison on January 4 in Pennsylvania continues to baffle police who appear no closer, after more than two months, to figuring out who might have shot the 28-year-old man he drove home to Maine after spending the holidays with relatives in Florida — and why.
Police released a video last week that shows the suspect vehicle just seconds before its driver got out his dark blue Ford Ranger pickup truck and opened fire on the defenseless Davison, killing him.
The video does not show the road rage shooting. Police say they are releasing the surveillance camera recording in hopes that it will remind any potential witnesses of what they saw that night, and they will come forward with information for police.
“The video is being released, not so much to focus on the suspect’s vehicle, but more so to identify possible witnesses,” said Pennsylvania State Trooper Lt. Adam Kosheba.
As the video shot from the parking lot of Mason Dixon Auto Auction reveals, Interstate 81 was not at all a lonely road that night, even though the road rage murder happened at about 2:10 in the morning.
Numerous cars and trucks can be seen in the video traveling in both directions along the highway, leaving investigators convinced that someone must have seen something that could be helpful in tracking down the pickup-driving killer.
The whole time that all of these cars were passing by on the road, Timothy Davison’s 2001 Mitsubishi Montero was stuck on a snowy median, rammed off the road there by the driver of the Ford Ranger.
The first vehicle seen in the video is the pickup truck driven by the unidentified road rage murder suspect. The Ford Ranger travels southbound, that is, from left to right in the video frame.
Police say that at the time it appears in the video, the Ford Ranger had already rammed Davison’s car off the highway. Police earlier released a 911 call in which Davison is heard saying, “Yeah, he smashed me with his car and pushed me across the median.”
In the video, the road rage killer has already made a U-turn on the highway after ramming Davison’s car, and is returning the scene. Seconds after the appearance of the Ford Ranger in video, its driver got out and shot Davison dead as he sat in his car waiting for help to arrive.
While the incident is described as “road rage,” police have said that Davison apparently did nothing to provoke the driver who chased him for 15 miles, ran him off the road then coolly doubled back and killed him.
