Danica McKellar Pledges To Show Skin On ‘Dancing With The Stars’
Danica McKellar is just one of the handful of B-list celebrities that have found their way on to the new season of Dancing With the Stars. She’s a celebrity who’s more well-known for her work on the 80s television show The Wonder Years as Kevin Arnold’s quintessential perfect girl, Winnie Cooper. Since then, the 39-year-old McKellar has grown up considerably since her Wonder Years day.
Unlike some of her Dancing With the Stars competitors, Danica has vowed to show some skin throughout her run on the ballroom dance competition. “I think a given with this show. I’m really glad that all the rehearsing is getting my body extra tone for the outfits.”
During an interview with Fox News, Danica McKellar, who spent her years post-Winnie Cooper discovering a new math theorem called the Chayes-McKellar-Winn Theorem, sat down for an interview to discuss the next phase of her life as a film actress turned reality star.
For Danica, although last night she proved she can definitely move well, she will hardly refer to herself as a dancer.
“Back in 2006 I did a movie that had a tango scene in it, and for that month I did take intensive lessons for that project. I loved the experience and had kept dancing as an on-again off-again hobby. I have always wished I could really take the time to focus on dancing and now this is really exciting for me to finally have that opportunity!”
As a self-proclaimed math education advocate, McKellar has written books to encourage girls to tackle difficult challenges. When she was offered a spot on Dancing With the Stars, the actress had to take her own advice.
“It was certainly daunting to me but I remember what I tell my readers, and I knew that I could not shy away from this opportunity. I’m really excited to be on the show for the experience I will have, and so yes, if more people become aware of my books and more girls get the benefit of becoming confident in math because of it I will be doubly thrilled.”
As for other stars who aren’t willing to show some skin, recently Danica McKellar’s Dancing With the Stars competitor Candace Cameron Bure said that she will be taking the more conservative route on the ballroom show. During last night’s show, Bure said she wanted to be “a good role model.”
