Brittany Murphy died on December 20th, 2009 and her final movie role in Something Wicked is finally getting its release date. Murphy was tragically found in her Los Angeles home in what was eventually ruled an accidental death. According to the original autopsy, Brittany Murphy died from a combination of pneumonia and severe anemia. Last fall, Murphy’s father began to make accusations that she was actually poisoned by government officials who had been tracking his daughter. The death of her husband Simon Monjack weeks later added to the speculation.
Unfortunately, Brittany Murphy has not been able to “rest in peace” since her death as controversies have surrounded her untimely demise. At 32, she was considered a young, budding actress. But it seems that the controversies may not be the final word on Brittany’s career. According to Merchant Films, Murphy’s final movie role in Something Wicked will get an April 4th release date.
The movie release of Something Wicked will happen almost four and a half years after the actress’ death. Although it is highly unusual, it is not unheard of for a movie to be released after the death of an actor. Paul Walker will be in the upcoming Fast And Furious 7, in spite of his death in a fatal car crash last year. What makes Brittany Murphy’s involvement in Something Wicked so interesting is that most of the shooting for the film was finished before her death in 2009.
Something Wicked will be released in Eugene, Oregon on April 4, where the movie was shot. Writer and producer Joe Colleran told the New York Daily News, “The first months of reviewing the footage and starting to put things together and then seeing her and hearing her voice, it’s very emotional.” All of the production team considered a great honor to be a part of Brittany Murphy’s final movie project and are excited about the April release date. After the showing in Eugene, the movie will be released in Theaters nationwide.
Without giving away too many spoilers, the script revolves around the relationship between a young couple planning their wedding. Through the course of the movie, dark secrets are revealed that turn into a potentially deadly plot twist. Brittany Murphy is involved in the most thrilling and disturbing scene in the movie. “There’s an important scene where her character is unraveling and she spent a long time getting ready and focused and went for it. Personally, I think it’s one of the best scenes of her career,” Colleran told USA Today.
It appears that Brittany Murphy’s Something Wicked movie release date will help her to be remembered as an actress, rather than the victim of a government conspiracy.
