The PlanetSide 2 PS4 release date is rumored to be this Summer, according to a recently leaked YouTube video. The video shows about two minutes of gameplay after the lengthy reveal of a PSN store listing which clearly features the game and a May 26 release.
While the release date has not been verified, it would certainly indicate one of two possibilities: Either the game has been secretly in production since the PlayStation 4 was announced, or this could be a rush job so that Sony can grab its lead back after the recent surge in Xbox One sales. As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Sony is aiming to take on Titanfall and Destiny with the upcoming PlanetSide 2 PS4 port, but it doesn’t seem likely that they would rush it out. Sony is not known for releasing sub-par games, and this early into the latest console war, a rushed game would be a bad sign of things to come.

The video shows PlanetSide 2 gameplay, and it looks amazing. If it turns out well on the PlayStation 4, we could easily forget about the general disappointment of Battlefield 4 ‘s attempt to create realistic battle scenarios. If PSN is stable enough, we could see a serious boost in Sony’s console sales on the PlanetSide 2 PS4 release date. When even a night-time battle scenario looks impressive, your FPS title is doing it right.
Of course the footage shown in the video above has no HUD, so it could easily be PC footage.
Rolling hills, boulder-strewn battlefields, and gunfire everywhere really gives you the feeling that you’re in the middle of a massive scale battle, even with a squad to assist you. There are missiles flying, tanks crossing your path, and even the subtle touch of the moon on the horizon to give you the feeling like you’re actually there. Zooming in on your target doesn’t take away from the realism either, as it simply lines up your field of vision with the gun scope. A distant city backdrop gives you the feeling that you’re literally miles from civilization, and if the game gives you the chance to take the battle into the city, Battlefield 4 could be forgotten easily.

The supposed May 26 PlanetSide 2 PS4 release date could prove to be the day Sony takes a major lead again after the release of the Titanfall Xbox One bundle . The only thing that seems to be holding Sony back is the limitations of the PS4 in stock , and PlanetSide 2 seems set to empty the shelves once again.
Will you be ready to take on Sony’s answer to Titanfall and Destiny when PlanetSide 2 hits?
