Cristin Milioti Says That Suggestion Of Mother’s Death In HIMYM Is ‘Insane’

CBS will screen the final episode of the hit show How I Met Your Mother on Monday, March 31.

The show has run for nine seasons and is based on the character, Ted Mosby (played by Josh Radnor), telling his two children the story of how he met their mother.

To prepare the show’s fans for the finale, most of the cast — which included Alyson Hannigan, Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Cristin Milioti, and Neil Patrick Harris (via Skype) — attended the PaleyFest panel last Saturday to talk about the ending of the nine-season series.

The get-together was moderated by occasional guest star Wayne Brady, who plays Barney’s gay black brother.

Because of the actions of Ted Mosby in a recent episode, there was speculation that the mother would die at the end. But Cristin Milioti recently told The Hollywood Reporter that those theories were “insane.”

Producer and writer, Carter Bays, studiously avoided the question, saying, “We’re wildly excited about the finale and obviously we can’t say anything,” after being asked straight out if the Mother would die. Adding, “It’s beautiful.”

Milioti, 28, said that she had no idea how big of a deal her character really was before she joined the show. she added:

“I don’t think I fully understood the scope of it until I finished binge-watching all of the seasons. By then I’d already filmed three or four episodes. When I finally get to the episode where I [come on], it all set in, I’m like ‘Oh God! This is a big deal.'”

Josh Radnor, 39, claims that playing the character of the father has kept him “humble.”

“I feel like he’s been a teacher for me. Another thing from a larger perspective is because the character doesn’t get a big win until the end. I was constantly getting knocks. I never had a moment where I felt like ‘Woo I made it in Hollywood!’ I always felt like he was a teacher of humility for me.

Maybe that sounds a little silly. But he really kept my pride in check. He was going through a lot and I had to honor him and be with all that.”

Cristin Milioti is both a singer and an actress. Her most recent movie role was playing the first wife of Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio), in the Martin Scorsese film ” The Wolf of Wall Street,” which was released at the end of last year.
