Kristin Cavallari Chooses Not To Vaccinate Children Due To Autism Concerns [Video]

Kristin Cavallari revealed in a recent interview that she is not a proponent of childhood vaccinations, fearing they could potentially cause autism.

Cavallari, along with husband and Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, have not vaccinated their youngest son, Camden, and have no intention of exposing their unborn son to a vaccination as well. Cavallari was initially questioned on the subject during an interview on Fox Business Channel Thursday. Apparently, Cavallari felt she was ambushed a bit by former MTV personality Kennedy, who was interviewing Kristin for a segment on The Independents. Kennedy reacted in disbelief to Cavallari’s suggestion that she had read many books on the subject of autism.

Cavallari elaborated further during the Fox Business Channel interview:

“There is a pediatric group called Homestead, or Home First? Pregnancy brain, I’ve got it confused,” Cavallari explained. “They’ve never vaccinated any of their children and they haven’t had one case of autism. And now, 1 in 88 boys is autistic, which is a really scary statistic… The vaccinations have changed over the years, there’s more mercury and other…”

One day after this interview, Cavallari was compelled to speak in more detail on the subject, presumably after she had some time to prepare. Kristin spoke to HuffPost Live and attempted to explain her position:

“Vaccines are not something I wanted to publicly come out and speak on. I sort of got bombarded in this interview and thrown off-guard. There’s really scary statistics out there, and to each their own,” said Cavallari. “Autism wasn’t prevalent — like it is now — years ago, so something is going on, whether it’s the chemicals in our food or the vaccines. Something is happening, and we can’t really ignore that. I choose to believe that I think it’s in the vaccines but, again, to each their own and that’s where I stand on it.”

The subject of autism and its possible connection to childhood vaccinations has become a polarizing issue in recent years. The most vocal anti-vaccination advocate has been The View co-host Jenny McCarthy, who has maintained that her son’s autism is directly linked to vaccines. McCarthy and Cavallari’s public stance against vaccinations is in direct contradiction to the claims of health experts and multitudes of scientific data.

Despite sharing her opinion on the subject, Cavallari is not as fervent an advocate as McCarthy, as Kristin has maintained that parents should make their own decisions regarding their children.
