Florida Georgia Line Will Cruise On Their Own This Summer
Florida Georgia Line has taken the country music world by storm, and now they will touring the United States on their own. The duo announced the dates for the “This Is How We Role Summer Series,” which will be Florida Georgia Line’s first major solo tour. They announced nine dates on their official website:
5/30 – Springdale, Arkansas
5/31 – Pearl, Mississippi
6/01 – TBA
6/12 – Charleston, South Carolina
6/13 – Augusta, Georgia
6/14 – TBA
6/19 – Ft. Wayne, Indiana
6/20 – Bowling Green, Kentucky
6/22 – Asheville, North Carolina
The duo’s second EP, It’z Just What We Do(and no, that is not a spelling error, it’z just how they spell) was released on May 15, 2012, and began what has been a whirlwind two years for the duo, comprised of Brian Kelley from Ormond Beach, Florida and Tyler Hubbard from Mornoe, Georgia.
Cruise, the first single from the It’z Just What We Do EP, was also Florida Georgia Line’s first number one single on the country charts. Florida Georgia Line nabbed “Single of the Year” for Cruise at the Country Music Association Awards. A remix of Cruise, featuring rap artist Nelly, won the “Vocal Event of the Year” at the same awards, as well as being named “Single of the Year” at the American Music Awards. The Nelly remix of Cruise was included on Florida Georgia Line’s first full length studio album, Here’s To The Good Times, which was released on December 4, 2012 and has been certified Platinum in the United States and Canada.
The duo are the current Academy of Country Music “Best New Artist” and have been touring with Jason Aldean on his “Night Train” tour, and have been having such a good time playing baseball stadiums, they decided to do it again this summer. Making the announcement, Kelley had this to say:
“Last year we played the ballpark in Lexington, Kentucky and it was an epic night,We thought how fun would it be to hit several of these and bring the good times to the field!”
Before Florida Georgia Line hits the road, they will be performing at the ACM Awards on April 6. While they obviously won’t be defending their “Best New Artist” title, they are nominated four four awards; “Vocal Duo of the Year”, “Album of the Year”, “Single of the Year” and “Vocal Event of the Year.”
Rapper Nelly made a huge splash with Florida Georgia Line on the remix of Cruise and will be joining the duo on “This Is How We Role Summer Series” tour. Newcomer Chris Lane will be the opener on the tour; surely he is hoping that whatever magic Florida Georgia Line has will rub off and kick start his career.
