Did Kenny Chesney Ruin Renee Zellweger For All Other Men?
Renee Zellweger looks…..different. Recent appearances have led to speculation that Zellweger has taken to plastic surgery and starving herself to look better. While she looked great at the 2013 Oscar Ceremony last February, she sure behaved a touch odd. Renee was reunited with the cast of Chicago to present several awards, and appeared drunk, as she swayed and closed her eyes. She was so intoxicated that she was unable to read from the cards, and had to have assistance from her co-stars Richard Gere and Queen Latifah.
While Zellweger has had her share of critical success, including an Oscar of her own for Best Supporting Actress in the 2003 drama Cold Mountain, her personal life has been more like a badly written soap opera. In 1999, Zellweger became engaged to Jim Carey, her co-star in Me, Myself and Irene. The pair were hounded by the media, and split up in 2000. Renee then dated the lead singer of the rock group The White Stripes, after his marriage to Meg White, the drummer for The White Stripes, ended. Rumors that White and Zellweger were involved prior to the marriage ending dogged the couple, who split up in 2004.
On May 9, 2005, Zellweger married country music superstar Kenny Chesney, in an intimate ceremony at Chesney’s home in the Virgin Islands. The couple had met only four months before their marriage and, as it would turn out, the marriage didn’t last much longer. Zellweger filed for an annulment of the marriage on September 15, 2009, and cited fraud as the cause. While the annulment was granted in December of 2005, the speculation on what “fraud” meant continued long after. The tabloids had a field day, with headlines that claimed Chesney was gay, that he had cheated on Zellweger with any number of women and men, and that Chesney wanted children while Zellweger did not. In a 2010 interview on Oprah, Chesney took the blame for the split, saying he panicked.
In all his interviews on the subject, Chesney has never spoken ill of Renee; Zellweger has not been so kind. In a 2006 interview with the British magazine Now, Zellweger blamed Chesney, and cited his unhappiness with her moving a friend into their home:
“There was no acceptance of my life or my friends. My friend was pregnant, with her husband and young kid. She was doing up her house for the new baby.”
Perhaps Renee doesn’t understand that most newlywed men want to be alone with their wives? After the split from Chesney, Zellweger stayed out of the tabloids until she was linked to Bradley Cooper. Zellweger managed to keep that relationship under wraps for nearly a year, but would not publicly comment on it. Zellweger and Cooper split in March of 2011 without ever officially confirming they were a couple.
Professionally, Zellweger had another set back when Lifetime rejected the pilot for Cinnamon Girl, a series based on the music scene of the 60s and 70s that Zellweger co-created.
