Brad Pitt To Star In Season 2 Of ‘True Detective’?
Now that the first season of True Detective has wrapped everyone has been trying to guess who will play the new detectives for season two. While creator Nic Pizzolatto hasn’t gone on record to say who the new detectives are or if they have cast anyone, the fact that they were able to get Matthew McConaughey and Woodey Harrelson on a show before it exploded in popularity, really says something about the kind of pool they could work with for season two.
Everyone is saying that Matthew McConaughey might as well make room for an Emmy next to his mantel, so how could season 2 of True Detective possibly top season 1? The answer may lie in film actor Brad Pitt. While that casting choice may leave you scratching your head, it’s probable that production is looking for another A-lister to headline the second season, and since his Oscar win for Dallas Buyers Club, it’s hard to get better than Matthew McConaughey. That is, unless you go for mega star Brad Pitt.
According to HollywoodLife, they spoke to an insider that clued them in on the Pitt’s possible inclusion on the HBO drama. “Brad’s name has come up many times, it’s just a matter of what his other commitments are.”
Although the show is a hot ticket, the question remains: how does Brad Pitt come into the fold? Well, according to the source he already has close ties with HBO and might be looking to tighten those ties by leading off True Detective.
“It’s the show everyone wants to be on, because the writing and the roles are just so exquisite and complex. Brad has tight relations with HBO — he teamed up with Ryan Murphy last year to produce the HBO movie The Normal Heart. I know everyone would be thrilled to have him onboard.”
Sure Brad Pitt on True Detective is a big if but weirder things have happened. If not our vote is on Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Rogen, who offered up their funny take for the March 10 show.
Of working on the show Matthew McConaughey said:
“True Detective was basically like a six?month film. It was one director, eight episodes, 450 pages, basically a 450?page script. Six months shooting on film. Very considerate. Much more considerate than Dallas Buyers Club. We shot that with one camera, no lights and a tiny crew in 25 days. I was going for the quality and the experience. I don’t know what this means, I don’t know what the result will be. What can I get an experience out of, Matthew? That’s the question I was asking myself.”
