Patch Day Craziness Prevails For The Release Of Rift “Waves Of Madness” Update
The release of new content for popular MMORPG, Rift, was marred by a host of issues that prevented most of the almost 2 million Rift players from enjoying what should have been a very exciting day.
Due to a variety of server issues and problems with the patch data files, Rift servers remained locked and unplayable well into late Wednesday afternoon. Trion, the game’s publisher, spent the day trying to resolve the various sticking points while fending off comments and questions from impatient players.
With limited information on what is causing the issues available, players have begun to grumble and compare war stories about their experiences with other popular MMOS.
Patch days have always had their share of difficulties and experienced players gathered on Ventrilo and Teamspeak chat servers to pass the time comparing war stories about similar delays in popular MMOS like Wow, Aion and Age of Conan.
FMC, a well known PVP focused guild on Rift’s Seastone server had more than a dozen of their members in Teamspeak this afternoon. The members idled away their time giving each other the latest news on the situation. As is often the case with most hardcore gamers, much of the conversation centered around appropriate revenge on whomever “messed up the patch.” When FMC members were not being diabolical, they spent time discussing in great detail how they would alter and improve their characters in accordance with the many changes being made to Rift in patch 1.3.
Hopefully the issues will be resolved soon and the thousands of Rift players can take out their frustrations by mercilessly face melting players of the opposing faction.
