Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez: One More Dance For Jelena

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez appear to be dancing life back into “Jelena,” a previously, sickly, ailing thing.

As previously reported, the “Baby” singer flew from deposition grimness in Miami, Florida, to Selena’s side in McAllen, Texas, Friday.

Just in time for a Mexican breakfast, a wander though a perfume and flower store – and a private dance session.

It’s the last item that had fans, “Jelena” devotees, and media agog, as Gomez prepped to hit the State Farm Arena stage at Borderfest in Hidalgo — the reason she is in town.

Given that local journalists reported the former sweethearts both arrived at the festival, many wondered if Selena would bring Justin out on stage.

Perhaps a duet on “Love Will Remember,” the Bieber-inspired song on her hit Stars Dance album?

The question comes up because the twosome spent two hours at McAllen’s Action Dance Studio on Friday.

TMZ reports Bieber and Gomez worked with a choreographer [Nick DeMoura], so it appears their session was a tad more than just for kicks and may have been for a cameo at Selena’s show tonight.

Speaking to Celebuzz, studio owner Yair Cruz said the back-on sweethearts were “very nice and cooperative,” and called the studio to book a space explaining they needed to practice a dance.

Cruz recalled Justin and Selena “were dancing together and playing around” at his suite.

The pair reportedly arrived at around 7 pm.

Naturally delighted to have superstars in his midst, Yair told the outlet he didn’t charge for the room.

“I was honored for them to be at the studio,” he said.

Bieber and Gomez immortalized their visit with signatures left on the huge mirrored walls of the studio. There’s also a short Instagram video of their departure doing the rounds online.

Justin can be seen moving a massive gym mat away from the studio door – to block views inside – out of his way as he exits. Behind him Selena, wreathed in smiles, thanks staff on behalf of both of them.

Into the mix of this romantic dance context, People has more details on Bieber and Gomez’s Mexican breakfast.

Lori Johnson, the manager of Don Pepe’s McAllen Mexican restaurant, told the magazine,

“Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber came in with his bodyguards a little after 10:30 in the morning for breakfast and were here for an hour and a half.”

Johnson went on to reveal, “They were kissing. They were sitting next to each other hugging and kissing in front of the staff.”

“They weren’t hiding it and seemed to be boyfriend and girlfriend.”

Local news outlet The Monitor reports an employee at Xtreme Lazer Tag claims to have seen the pair “kissing in the shadows of the course” on Saturday

“They seemed really happy,” marketing manager Ruben Elias told the outlet, adding Bieber paid $649.50 to rent the entire place for a group of around 10.

Referring to mob that erupted at McAllen’s La Plaza Mall Friday after a false sighting of Justin, he added,

“They were really nice people. I was so afraid of what happened yesterday at the mall… but it was really nice, very calm.”

Mixing creative fun with just ‘hanging out,’ it seems Bieber and Gomez have finally managed to remember the best of what they had — instead of the worst.

If so, their reunion comes at a perilous time for Justin, currently engulfed in legal challenges and caught up in the grip of a largely out-of-control mainstream and tabloid press that ramps up negative messaging on all things Bieber, including his relationship with Gomez.

So it has to be said, if Selena is stepping up to stand by him at this particular moment, she is a woman of some substance. That speaks to Bieber’s essential character too — the one beneath the defensive front and marijuana haze.

Why? Because balanced people don’t generally continually extend themselves to those who have nothing of real value to offer.

As for the show tonight, who knows what will happen?

Either way, Jelena is back for one more dance.

Update: In the end Bieber didn’t take to the stage on Saturday. Gomez plays Houston, Sunday.
